From an early age, she was familiar with instruments such as the piano and violin in the orchestra, and began composing on her own.
As a singer-songwriter, Akiko Higashikawa has released three albums so far. In 2011, she formed a unit with drummer Junpei Kamiya called "Akai Kutsu," which is pop music with a hint of alternative, and has released four albums and mini-albums so far, and has also released and performed in Taiwan.

With her outstanding sense of melody and worldview, she is active as a composer, providing songs, producing music for TV commercials, and supporting musicians for dramas and artists.

In 2023, Higashikawa was in charge of the soundtrack for the TV Tokyo drama "Kashimashimeshi," and the original soundtrack was released. From April 2024, she will be in charge of the theme song for NHK Radio 1's "Manmaru" (Monday to Friday 12:30 to 15:55).
