Ami Koda

Born in Chiba, Japan, Ami began her musical journey at an early age, starting with classical piano at 6, flute at 12, and composition at 17. After graduating from high school, she moved to Tokyo to launch her career as a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
In 2014, she co-founded the project IKILLU with guitarist Kazuya Takenouchi (known for supporting The fin., King Gnu (Srv.vinci), WONK, Saccharin, etc.) and bassist Hodaka Kageta (known for supporting She Her Her Hers, and more).

Ami has also contributed as a supporting musician for various artists during live performances (including FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL), recordings, commercials’ songs and videos.
In 2017, she relocated to London, continuing her musical pursuits as a solo artist and versatile multi-instrumentalist for live shows and recordings, including appearances on BBC6 and Worldwide FM. As a core member of Esa's Afro Synth Band, she toured extensively across Europe and performed at renowned festivals worldwide.

Currently based in Tokyo, Ami continues to expand her musical horizons while traveling internationally.

Her collaborations include notable artists such as Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab), Gilles Peterson, Esa Williams, Forest Law, Grimm Grimm, MF Tomlinson, An Alien Called Harmony, HAHA Sounds Collective, Matthieu Beck, Ntombi Ndaba, Kamazu, and Steve Monite.
