MUSIC FROM THE MARS

Formed in 1997. Started as a trio. Currently a six-piece band. Their music is sublimated as pop music with progressive development and complex chord progressions, but with an outstanding sense of melody, it is not felt. The band's passionate and lyrical vocal lines are supported by detailed and bold arrangements full of beautiful construction, and the witty interplay of each instrument. Their original style, which tickles our sonic curiosity, has been further evolved and strengthened.

Comment from Aya Sekine
To me their music is pop, but it has the edge kind of the pop I grew up listening to, that could be categorized as AOR (Adult Oriented Rock) because of the most catchy melody that reminds me of...Matthew Larkin Cassell, Steely Dan, Tatsuro Yamashita etc! To mye it's the international Setagaya (not Shibuya) sound. Maybe not even. Maybe Nerima!?
Probably because of leader guitar / vocalist Tomo-nobu Fuji-i's Gibson ES135 sound resembles the 70's - something that you wanna hear on vinyl! Also it has this 1970's Djavan-ish MPB kind of Brazilian studio sound with 2 horns (French horn and sopranino) - it's a music madness and you need to hear them live to know what I am talking about.
