Tokyo Django Collective

Daisuke Teshima and Fumihiko Kono are two of the leading guitarists in Japan’s manouche jazz scene, while bassist Kyohei Abe—having lived in France and earned the trust of musicians there—adds international depth to the trio.
United by their passion for manouche jazz (also known as gypsy swing), a jazz style born in 1930s France and popularized by Django Reinhardt, the three musicians bring this tradition to life with a uniquely Japanese sensibility.

Their concept, “contemporary manouche jazz with a Japanese touch,” has taken them to major jazz festivals both in Japan and abroad, including Django Amsterdam (Netherlands), the Edinburgh Jazz Festival (Scotland), and Tokyo JAZZ.

In 2017 and 2018, they invited Adrien Moignard—one of today’s most celebrated manouche jazz guitarists—for a special Japan tour, which led to the release of the mini-album 「Manouche World-Class Meeting Vol.1」.
